I had ever intention of updating this more often, but I have been consumed with school, work and being a NEWLYWED!!
Which on that note I am excited to say that my husband has been accepted to BAYLOR UNIVERSITY. He will start taking the accounting core in the fall, working towards his Masters of Accountancy. It will be nice to have someone to study with.
In other news all I do is study work study try to get sleep study and spend time with Scott and Lola. I have however found some time for pleasure reading and I just finish an interesting book Love the one You're With by: Emily Giffin
I enjoy reading her stories because I think they pull away from the normal love stories: boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, they live happily ever after. She touches on the hard hitting questions and realities of love and the struggles that go with the decisions. I am thankful to have met the love of my life, but it wasn't always easy for me and I know friends that have been in these same situations.
Something I also MUST share is about a wonderful man and previous boss. Most of you know that I started at Baylor in 2007 working for the department of art and the department chair was Professor McClanahan. He is one of those men who cherished his life and the lives of people around him. He cared about every student that came into the department and made sure to take the time to help them or would tell them to "think art" while they waited for their appointment. I have also never know a man to be so open about his love for his wife. I will never forget my first day when he told me, "I don't care if I am in my office with the president of the United States, if my bride calls you interrupt me." Instantly, I was touch by the fact that he still calls his wife his bride. Over the years I was able to catch little glimpses of their relationship, just enough to know that it was the kind I wanted to have some day. He has and always will be an inspiration to me as I look back on his strength, kindness, and selflessness. Much to my disappointment he retired summer 2010. He is missed, but it understood that it was his time to relax and enjoy life after so many faithful years to Baylor, his art, and dedication of sharing his knowledge with students. Due to his influence on my life and the joy he brought me working with him I invited him and his wife to the wedding. He was unfortunately unable to make it, but was VERY generous in giving us a piece of his art work. It just so happens to be a portrait of the Kansas landscape, which is also where Scott's mom grew up. It couldn't have been more perfect. Since he has retired my communication with him has been very little, but each morning I wake up blessed to see that beautiful piece of art work hanging in our bedroom. As I shared this with another professor and very close friend of his, he tells me something Professor McClanahan always told him: "People hang the art work they think will impress people in their living room, but they hang the art work that means the most to them in their bedroom." That statement could not be more true and brought tears to my eyes. So I ask what art work is hanging in your bedroom?
Well that is about all I have today! I hope that everyone is doing well!
xoxo
